About the Foundation

The Kelly-Quattrocchi Family Foundation began not with a single idea, but a recognition of the need for collective and strategic action. Tina Kelly and Mark Quattrocchi, the heads of the Kelly-Quattrocchi family, have always focused on investing in others. They see the responsibility of using their wealth to support the people and community around them and have done so throughout their lives. This didn’t change when they had their son, Sam, as they also instilled this call to service within him.

As Sam got older and met his now husband, DJ, they paid attention to the ways that Tina and Mark continued to give back to their community in large and small ways. Interested in being a part of this process, Sam and DJ proposed forming a foundation. With that, the Kelly-Quattrocchi Family Foundation was born. Each of the four founders, as a family, bring years of unique and balancing perspectives that coalesce around a desire to create not just a moment of change, but a ripple of change in our communities. 

OUR APPROACH

We believe meaningful change happens over time. By investing in education, leadership, and community support, we strive to provide opportunities that ripple across generations.

We are a family-led foundation focused on expanding access to opportunity through thoughtful, values-driven giving. Our approach centers on long-term impact, community partnership, and supporting individuals as they grow into leaders within their communities.

We envision communities strengthened by equitable access to education and empowered leadership of underrepresented groups. This access to opportunity strengthens a culture of giving back and a shared commitment to collective wellbeing. When individuals achieve their own needs, they can then in turn reach out to others in their community and continue this work.

WHO WE ARE

  • Tina Kelly

    BOARD CHAIR

    After graduating from college with the desire to change the world and create a life in service to others, Tina began a 22 year journey as a teacher with a career spanning elementary, middle, and high schools in inner city and rural school districts. It was here Tina witnessed the power of education to empower students, their families and communities to stand proud, find their voice, and exert their power. After Tina left teaching she volunteered as a crisis response advocate for the police department, worked with a YWCA program for survivors of domestic violence, and as part of a hospice team with her social therapy dog. When Tina was 50 years old she returned to graduate school to become a psychotherapist. She worked in community clinics and started a private practice based on a sliding scale for those without insurance or with limited income.

    Tina has served on the boards of local nonprofits involved with childcare, and at-risk adolescents and young adults. Today she serves on a school board for a small, rural district in Northern California.

  • Mark Quattrocchi

    BOARD MEMBER

    Smitten at first glance, Mark met Tina in 1982 while he was a graduate student at UC Berkeley. From the beginning, they shared an ethos of giving and social good—values that continue to guide their lives and philanthropic work.

    Mark founded an architectural firm specializing in the design of K–12 and higher education facilities; shaping learning environments for generations of students. Now retired, Mark continues to use his talents in service of others by providing pro bono design expertise to nonprofits.

    He also serves on national and international nonprofit boards, including supporting children affected by war and civil unrest, and veterans coping with the lasting traumas of conflict.

  • Sam Kelly-Quattrocchi

    TREASURER OF THE BOARD

    Sam is the son of Tina and Mark and is married to DJ. Growing up, he was immersed in a culture of service—whether helping his family prepare meals, contributing to home projects, or engaging with the broader community. These early experiences instilled in him a deep appreciation for generosity, collaboration, and civic responsibility.

    Throughout college, Sam embraced roles that allowed him to connect with and guide peers, serving as a campus tour guide and later working in new student orientation programs. Through these experiences, it became clear that helping others succeed was both meaningful and energizing for him.

    Sam has since built a career in local government, where he works on initiatives designed to reduce institutional barriers and foster community leadership and stewardship. His work reflects a commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening communities.Through his role on the Kelly-Quattrocchi Family Foundation, Sam seeks to further this mission—supporting impactful change locally while investing in the development of future leaders.

  • DJ Kelly-Quattrocchi

    MANAGING DIRECTOR & BOARD RECORDER

    DJ joined the Kelly-Quattrocchi family after meeting Sam in college at Oregon State University. Growing up mixed-race in rural Southern Oregon, DJ understands the importance of supporting underserved communities in the ways they can best flourish.

    As a higher education administrator, now turned consultant, DJ works with organizations who are looking to make sustainable change grounded in equity, strategic design, and leadership development. As a part of the Kelly-Quattrocchi Family Foundation, DJ is excited to support nonprofits who are already doing the necessary work within their community that creates opportunity.
